A Bridezilla and her Fiancè

There’s an idealistic fantasy surrounding the time of engagement for couples. It is pictured on websites, television, and movies as being the most beautiful and loving season of preparation for your wedding (and in a much more important sense, your marriage). The reality, however, sometimes proves that there’s no time of drinking Champagne while trying on wedding dresses and tasting cakes laughing with your fiancé.

So, today is meant to be ALL about you and your fiancè! Let’s be honest here. Some brides get a little too caught up in the wedding planning and forget what they’re actually planning for. It happens to lots of brides.  I’ll admit, I had a few moments when I had to remind myself that I was planning this wedding because I was getting MARRIED.

This is a sweet and a little reminder: Remember what this wedding is for- to begin your life with the person you love. After the wedding comes your marriage- which is so much more involved than the year of planning that you do for just one night. At the end of the night, you are MARRIED, and you are starting your life with the person who you can’t imagine life without!

And so, some advice from someone who’s been through it (me of course)…

First, be sure to set aside time to spend time together during your planning. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to waste a whole night browsing through Pinterest looking for wedding inspiration.

Even if you fiancè says that he doesn’t care about something, he actually might. Still keep him in the know about decisions you’re making for the wedding. Maybe he’ll say he doesn’’t care about the colors  for the wedding. But, I asked him, and he DEFINITELY had an opinion. 🙂

During my trasformation into the ultimate Bridezilla, I thought that getting my fiancè involved with the wedding planning process was not enough… so I decided to surprise my love with a short trip to Barcelona and spend with him some quality time!!!! Barcelona is one of Europe’s top mini-break destinations. It is the perfect size to visit for a long weekend. If you are coming to the city for a romantic break with your partner you will find a lot of things to do and see. The rambling streets, crowdy plazas, an aperitif, a romantic dinner, an evening walk under the moonlight… everything was just sooo perfect!

So basically, just don’t forget that you’re getting MARRIED, not just having a wedding! 🙂
