La Foce is a marvelous villa built in the 15th century, a true historic Tuscan residence in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, a stone’s throw from Pienza, Montalcino and Chianciano Terme.


This villa has sumptuous, romantic and sometimes majestic rooms.

But it is the villa’s garden that is the beating heart of timeless elegance: an Italian garden where boxwood hedges draw complex geometries, rich in scents, colorful and characterized by different terraces where it is pleasant to get lost.

The house is built on three levels, following the lie of the hill, and is surrounded by the now famous gardens created by Iris Origo and the English architect Cecil Pinsent – a ‘labour of love’ lasting many years. 

The airy, frescoed interior is filled with beautiful antique furniture, and reflects the unique Anglo-Tuscan taste of its owners.

Four gardeners look after the premises, including the swimming pool opposite the ‘limonaia’ (orangerie). Guests relax in the shade of roses and wisteria, lulled by the sound of water from the fountain nearby.
